The Correction Services in the Western Division has been commended for its exemplary work last year.

Commissioner of Corrections Lieutenant-Colonel Ifereimi Vasu was full of praise for his officers at the fourth quarter parade at Natabua last month.

Lieutenant-Colonel Vasu said their hard work and commitment helped to achieve their targets set by the Government of the day.

“I am happy to announce that the service has achieved its target and has ended the year on a very high note,” he said.

He said there was still room for improvement in their line of work.

Lieutenant-Colonel Vasu also stressed the importance of the new public service reforms by the Government.

“Reform means changes in attitude, work and lifestyle. Be more productive and perform to a level that will be expected by the Government of the day. We have to pull up our socks,” he said.

The Commissioner also visited inmates at the Natabua Corrections Centre.

He encouraged them to think positively.

“You are here to serve your sentence and go back home and do not involve yourself in other unnecessary or irrelevant activities that will deter you to be released on time.”

The parade was also attended by officers from the Ba and Natabua Corrections centres.
