Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama paid a surprise visit yesterday to senior residents and staff members of the Golden Age Home in Lautoka.

Accompanied by his family, the head of the Fijian Government took time to meet with senior citizens living at the nursing home at Natabua, Lautoka.

Home supervisor Tara Naresh said, “Today’s (yesterday) visit by the Prime Minister was a gesture that was appreciated by everyone, particularly for the residents at the home”.

“It was really nice of the Prime Minister to come and see us. Many of these residents don’t have a family and their faces lit up when they saw him.”

Ms Naresh also requested the Prime Minister to look into assisting them with repair works at the home including a new walkway to shelter the residents.

This request was then communicated to the Divisional Commissioner Western, Manasa Tagicakibau to facilitate.

The Golden Age Home looks after more than 40 senior citizens.

It was the former site of the Natabua Primary School in the 1960s.

Prime Minister Bainimarama attended the same primary school before it was relocated.
