About 300 Ahmadiyya Muslims gathered at the Rizwan Mosque in Lautoka to listen to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad.

The national Seerat – Un – Nabi Jalsa event was marked by devotees residing on Viti Levu including Ba, Nadi and Suva a few flew from overseas.

President (Amir)/missionary for Ahmaddiya Fiji, Maulana Mahmmod Ahimad Sahib said it was another time to enlighten the devotees on the true teachings of Islam.

“We should enlighten ourselves on the true teaching of Islam and Prophet Muhammad; there is a need to remind ourselves of those practices,” Mr Sahib said.

“Islam is always spread through love and peace. We are gathered here so that we should adapt to have love and peace among ourselves in reality. “

He added that Islam condemns such acts like harassment and terrorism and will not be associated with it.

“Islam was made from peace; Islam can never ever be separated by force or weapon so that was the message and enlightenment to all here,” he said.

“There is also a need to act accordingly and if you look at Islam and the practice of the holy Quran it has condemned any kind of harassment, terrorism and all activities associated with it.”

Interestingly, the Ahmaddiyya community does not celebrate the Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday.

“We never ever celebrated his birthday; even he himself did not celebrate it during his 63 years. Even after his demise his entire companion, even his wife did not celebrate it so we only practice what he did,” he said.

A similar programme was held for those in Vanua Levu at the newly-built Majid Noor, in Seaqaqa and Baitul Jame Mosque in Taveuni he said.
