The National Football League (NFL) has been deferred to a later date.

This was confirmed by Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) competitions manager, Amitesh Pal.

“The date and the fixtures will be revealed later this week,” Pal said.

He says the reason behind the deferment is to show respect to the late Sundip Patel, the managing director of CJ Patel Group who passed away a fortnight ago.

“This is a mark of respect to one on of our major sponsors,” Pal said.

He said the postponement of the NFL also gave teams more time to prepare for the NFL.

“We expect teams to come more prepared when the NFL starts,”Pal said.

Pal said the postponement of the NFL will not affect the competition.

“The competition will finish on time before the Courts Inter-District Championship in October,” Pal said.

The competition also takes a break in April for the 2015 Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Champions League in Fiji.

Ba and Suva will be representing the country in the OFC Champions League.

Suva won the 2014 Fiji Sun/Skipper Tuna National Football League.
