Business Was Slow

Business during the festive season was slow, says a local ship owner.

Blighwater Shipping Limited chief executive officer Captain William Vulivuli said although people made a lot of movement in and out of the urban centres, it did not reflect in their business.

“Compared to the previous years, business this time around was really slow,” he said.

“Last year there were lots of movement not only in the urban centres but people also travelled out to the islands and it was a good year for us.”

The company’s inter-island ferry MV Westerland services the Natovi-Savusavu direct route and in the weekends it operates the Savusavu- Lautoka route as well. Mr Vulivuli said another factor that could have affected their business is the increasing number of ferries that have now operated from Natovi.

However, he remains optimistic that the arrival of their new ferry this year is going to boost their
business.
