A 53-member Suvavou Pathfinders from the Seventh-day Adventist Church Fiji is in Australia as part of the annual Seventh Adventist iThirst Pathfinder Camporee in Brisbane, Australia this week.

Twenty-three members departed yesterday to join part of their group who left last week.

Suvavou Pathfinders organising committee chairman Pauliasi Tulia said their contingent consisted of young people from the age of 12-18.

“Some   left last week and will meet the 23 who departs today (yesterday),” Mr Tuilau said.

“This is an annual event organised by the Seventh-day Adventist Church worldwide, basically for young people’s spiritual empowerment and capacity building.”

Mr Tuilau said the tour was possible through a fundraising drive which started a year ago.

“There will be workshops on important issues, fun activities like hiking and water sports. At the end of the camp, the contingent will spend three days at the Gold Coast,” he said.

Meanwhile, this year marks Fiji’s eighth time participation in the annual event.

Fiji is part of the 14 Pacific Islands presented in AUC Youth including Australia and New Zealand that is underway from January 6 – 11.

The contingent is expected to arrive into the country on January 14.
