There are 463 beneficiaries for the Care and Protection Programme in the Social Welfare in the Northern Division.

This was confirmed by the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Rosy Akbar yesterday.

Ms Akbar said 588 social welfare recipients had collected their food vouchers and had also accessed their monthly social welfare allowances which were deposited into their bank account.

She said the food voucher collection for 2015 began last week and would continue next week.

“In Savusavu, 349 social welfare recipients have collected their food voucher and in total the northern welfare office has served 937 clients.

“The Ministry is advising those clients who have not picked their food vouchers to bring in their social welfare identification cards and collect their food vouchers.

“Uncollected food vouchers will be returned to the Ministry’s headquarters in Suva.”

Mrs Akbar said the 98 recipients in Taveuni had received their $50 cash monthly food voucher payment along with their social welfare allowances.

“In Nabouwalu, 748 social welfare recipients have received their monthly cash allowances and the $50 cash top up,” she said.
