Ratu Inoke Meets Sogavare

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, met with Solomon Islands Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare on Thursday.

They discussed areas of mutual interest between the two countries, including the current Air Services Agreement impasse.

Ratu Inoke said they also discussed bilateral agreements including the memorandum of understanding (MOU) and the memorandum of agreement (MOA) on education co-operation, agricultural and business co-operation and bio-security and Police training that required assessment and follow-up.

He said Mr Sogavare acknowledged the work of the Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF) and its impression of being inclusive, development-focused and action-oriented.

Ratu Inoke personally congratulated the Solomons Prime Minister, on behalf of the Fijian Government, following his appointment in last month’s elections.

Earlier in the week, Ratu Inoke had met his Solomon Islands counterpart Milner Tozaka in Honiara. The two agreed to continue engaging in talks on the Air Services Agreement impasse.
