Djokovic Focuses On Development Co-operation

France’s Ambassador to Fiji Michel Djokovic has immediate plans to reviving development co-operation with our country this year.
Mr Djokovic said the French government would first focus on the development of co-operation between France, Fiji and New Caledonia.
“The three of us can do a lot of things for education in particular for the French language in different circles for the general public and adults,” Mr Djokovic said.
He said this would be catered for under the French-established Alliance Francaise. He said the centre could provide French language sessions to the public and adults for companies that dealt with New Caledonia or France directly.
“We are starting again the co-operation with the French (Military) forces based in New Caledonia and I hope to encourage contacts port call from the Navy patrol boats and exchanges at the level of officers and general staff.
“And also for research and scientific technical co-operation; we know that there are a lot of things to do with the universities here. We can promote the co-operation with the different research centres in New Caledonia for development in agriculture and sustainable development and climate change,” he said.
With France hosting the United Nations World Conference on Climate Change at the end of this year, Mr Djokovic said he hoped to work with the relevant authorities in Fiji on their preparation for the conference.
