It is now a busy period for barber shops around Suva as students gets ready for the new school term next week.

Ronal Sanjay of Sunrise Barber shop said business had been good during this back- to-school period.

“We have been getting a lot of customers during this time. We are getting like 20 to 30 customers per day who come and have their hair cut as they get ready for school,” Mr Sanjay said.

The barbershop charges up to $3 for a haircut.

Lal’s Hairdressing owner Mani Lal said although they had been receiving a lot of customers, it did not have an impact on his business.

“There are a lot of customers coming in, but it’s still the same because there is a lot of competition around this arcade. There are almost 14 barber shops around here and we are all trying to get customers,” Mr Lal said.

He, however, said they had been earning enough money from the many customers coming in for a haircut during this back- to- school period.

Term One begins next Tuesday.
