Mother Recalls Fire Horror

Fifty-four-year-old Lata Pal could not control her tears as she described what happened to her son, Vinit Pal.
Mr Pal of Makosoi Place in Pacific Harbour sustained burns when his three-bedroom house was completely destroyed in a fire on Sunday afternoon.
“Vinit is my eldest son. We could not believe what happened to him,” Mrs Pal said.
“We are thankful that my grandson is safe, but pray and know that God will take care of my son,”she said.
Mr Pal, 32, is admitted at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital (CWM) in Suva
“The doctor told us that he received 37 per cent burns.
“We live just metres away from my son and he is a very trusted and hardworking person. He was asleep when the incident happened but we are thankful that he is now safe.”
Mr Pal, a taxi driver, is married and has a three-year-old son.
The cause of fire is not yet known as investigations continue.
