Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says   there is “no enemy territory” in his book.

He made the emphatic statement yesterday on board RFNS Kula as it sailed to Taveuni, regarded as the heartland of Opposition SODELPA’s strength in Cakaudrove.

This is Mr Bainimarama’s first Northern tour this year

He reiterated that in his FijiFirst Government “no one will be forgotten or discriminated” because of their political affiliation.

“National development will treat everyone equally. We will build roads for all people. There will be no enemy territory,” he said.

Mr  Bainimarama arrived in Taveuni where he opened the Taveuni Dive Resort in Soqulu last night.

Taveuni is the home island of Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, the Tui Cakau (paramount chief of Cakaudrove) and No 2 in the parliamentary Opposition MP ranking. In the last general election, Cakaudrove gave Mr Bainimarama, the strongest challenge in the province by province battle.

Mr Bainimarama will open the new Niusawa Hostel today and will be briefed by civil servants on development progress.

Tomorrow he will open the Welagi Evacuation Centre before he returns to Suva.

He said he was very disappointed that he would not open the Vuna desalination plant because it was not ready.

That event would have been the highlight of his tour. More than 2000 people, who have not had proper piped water supply, will benefit from the project.
