The Fiji Red Cross Society’s western branch is on standby during this cyclone season.  The divisional service centre co-ordinator (West), Mohammed Hafiz, said his team of volunteers have undergone training and are on standby should the need arise.

“At the moment this is the cyclone season and we are on full alert,” Mr Hafiz said.

“I am co-ordinating well with other seven branches, running programmes and awareness like disaster risk reduction programmes.

The Red Cross operation includes seven branches in the Western Division in Sigatoka, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki and Nalawa (Ra province).
