Kantilal Prakash of Namadi Heights in Suva is a proud father after his son Branesh, scored the highest mark in the 2014 Fiji School Leaving Certificate.

Branesh, of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) High School in Nabua, scored 386 out of 400. The Prakash family received the good news online while holidaying at the Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa, Yanuca Island.

Mr Prakash said he was very proud that his son for scoring the highest mark in the examination.

“We are on holiday at the moment and it was a very pleasant surprise for us,” Mr Prakash said.

He said he had only one son and one daughter.

“My daughter is studying at the University of the South Pacific (USP) and she has always had confidence in Branesh.”

Mr Prakash said his son deserved the first place because he had been working very hard.

Branesh said he was very happy and excited with his mark.

“I’m very lucky to have a very loving and supportive family and also my teachers who have always been there for me and guiding me on the right path.”

He said he would complete his Year 13 education this year at MGM High School.

“I want to take Commerce and Mathematics at the USP and become a professor later in life.”
