Oceania countries from the Oceania region were participanting in the Table Tennis Coaching Course in Suva.

Oceania development officer Michael Brown said this was a way of developing the sport in the region.

“We have a number of participants who are able to conduct the coaching course in their country and help it move forward without international experts coming in,” he said.

Brown said apart from Fiji they had participants from Australia, Tonga, New Zealand, New Caledonia, Tahiti, Kiribati, Vanuatu, Tuvalu and Solomon Islands.

“We can move on with more coaching courses to move from Level One to Level Two.

“Moving on to Level Two is a much-more advanced course and then in a few years we can look at Level Three.

Brown praised the Fiji Table Tennis Association for their active role in promoting and expanding the sport.

The course continues today at the Fiji Sports Council Table Tennis Centre in Laucala Bay, Suva.
