Westpac Fiji and United Nations Development Programme  held a workshop yesterday on Training of Trainers (TOT) for the Continuing Market Business Education (CMBE).

The programme is a series of training sessions designed for market vendors ranging from Financial First Steps.

It enables them to see the importance of savings, budgeting, business skills and they are in bite size learning to ensure that the learning will take place.

The programme is a follow up after the signing of the Pro Bono Agreement between UNDP and Westpac in October last year.

Eseta Nadakuitavuki, manager Women’s Markets said: “The training is vital to Westpac trainers ensuring that they are ready for this challenge and it has open their minds to view market vendors in a different view point.

“They now acknowledged that vendors have their own challenges working in an environment such as markets.”

Ms Nadakuitavuki added the workshop was aimed at upskilling the existing accredited trainers to understand Westpac responsibility as a partner to the Pro Bono Agreement.

“This workshop’s aim is to familiarise them with the overall M4C project, revisit the role of adult trainers and inform them about the partnership with local government authorities,” she said.

“Alert the trainers to the learning/training issues and challenges faced by market vendors as adult learners.”

“On the business basics workshop, we aim to inform them on the importance of having a proper record keeping of their financials which is a good habit to learn/practice if they want to seek funding assistance from a financial institution like commercial banks.”
