The Assistant Minister for Health, Veena Bhatnagar yesterday donated utensils to the Nadi Hospital and believes every individual has a role to play in helping mankind.

The donation which came from Mrs Bhatnagar’s personal savings was her way to motivate individuals towards similar causes.

“While doing my ward rounds earlier this week, expecting mothers at the Nadi Hospital complained of not having enough utensils at the ward,” she said.

For Ms Bhatnagar, this was not a complaint, but an opportunity and a request to serve.

“I thought that if I could provide a small token of help to these expecting mothers, then this would be a privilege for me.”

She said the ministry had a lot to do, however if individuals or corporate bodies supported, service delivery would be effective and efficient.

“Similar requests have been made at the Sigatoka Hospital, whereby I found out that there was a shortage of linens. We got onto that and the linens will be delivered to the hospital soon,” she said.

She later visited the Viseisei Sai Health Centre (Lautoka), Sarada Medical Centre (Nadi), Airport Health Centre and the Rama Krishna Mission (Nadi.

She thanked the acting divisional medical officer (West), Dr Susana Nakalevu during the tour.

She also thanked corporate bodies and individuals who have been supporting medical facilities around Fiji.

Meanwhile, a group of expecting mothers thanked Ms Bhatnagar for the assistance.
