Labasa man Pedro Virgil, who has stamped his mark as a photographer in the international arena is back to where it all started.

Mr Virgil, 41, who has just completed Season One last year with Caribbean’s Next Top Model and has been doing photo shoots for some of the world’s successful magazines has big plans for his small community at Bulileka outside Labasa Town.

Mr Virgil who has maternal links to Namuka-i-Lau said Bulileka was a place that he held dear to his heart.

“I never forgotten the place where it all started” Mr Virgil said.

He is based between Europe and working in the Caribbean.

Mr Virgil was educated in Labasa and migrated to Australia at the age of 16.

He is back to renovate their family home at Bulileka.

“We are here to renovate our home, but I realised that there is more that needs to be done in my community” he said.

Since his return, he has been working with people in his community on the collection of rubbish twice a week.

“I have been working with people in the community informing them of the proper way to dispose rubbish.”

He plans to persuade some of his clients overseas to contribute to projects in protecting the environment in Bulileka.

He also plans to set up an international standard production company in Fiji which could attract global clients.

One of the main projects he is working on is starting a reality show called Pacific’s Next Top Model which is the brainchild of supermodel, Tyra Banks.

“The Pacific has so many different cultures and traditional costumes. That’s why I think the show would be huge” he said.

He leaves on February 11 for Australia where he will spend two months on photo shoots for some renowned rugby league players for an Ultra Men’s Rugby Calender.
