A body of 42-year-old man was found at Tabucola Tiri in Wailevu outside Labasa Town on Thursday morning.

Parma Nand, married and with one child, was found dead at a sugarcane farm drain in Wailevu.

His parents, Parbu Lal and his wife Veer Wati, said their son was a labourer.

“Parma had a very good character, was healthy and he mingled well with the rest of the community,” Mr Lal said.

He said the last he saw his son was when he went for a court hearing on Tuesday at Labasa Town.

“He has been missing from Tuesday, but we did not report it  because he stays on his own.”

He said after his son’s divorce hearing, he did not come around like he usually did.

Mr Lal said they had been staying at Tabucola Tiri for the past 35 years and nothing had happened to them.

Chinnu Yankanna, also a farmer at Tabucola Tiri, said he was returning from his farm with his wife when they saw the body in the drain.

Meanwhile, divisional Police Commander Northern Shri Singh said Police investigations were underway.
