The Fiji Red Cross Society team and volunteers are on standby around the country during this cyclone season.

This is in case disaster hits after two cyclones had been forecasted to hit Fiji between January and March by the Nadi weather office.

“We also have our First Aid standby teams all over Fiji on alert for any chance or the formulation of a cyclone. For flooding in the Northern or Western areas we have got our volunteers on standby,” Red Cross operations manager Keith Andrews said.

“But in terms of contingency we have an inventory of supplies and we are able to support those that are affected in the communities; for that we have the supplies available all over the country as we speak,” he said.

The Fiji Red Cross Society provides relief items to affected people during natural disasters.
