Recently promoted staff of the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs were yesterday told to expect reforms within the ministry.

Permanent Secretary Savenaca Kaunisela in addressing the staff during their induction yesterday, said the door was open for those who didn’t want to accept change and improve performance.

“The whole of Government is trying to change its service. Reforms will be coming this year and you are the ones who will be taking the flag of the reform and running with it,” Mr Kaunisela said.

“Many times when there are reforms made, people are countering it maybe because they are not comfortable with it,” he said.

“You yourselves should make a point to change; I’ve seen that there are people in here that haven’t changed or do not want to change, if you don’t want to change then the door is wide open for you to leave”.

He informed the staff that the Prime Minister was relying on the staff to demonstrate what the Government had been preaching.

“We want you to carry out the duties set and perform to the best of your abilities.

“We want to eradicate the culture of laziness within the ministry and the whole of the  civil service,” Mr Kaunisela said.

He said reforms in the ministry began last year.

“We need to uphold the Government’s objectives,” Mr Kaunisela said.
