School children who are members of the Methodist Church in Fiji had been encouraged to do better this year.

President-elect of the Church, Reverend Tevita Banivanua said the church was happy with the achievement made by students who are members of the church.

He made the comment after the farewell service at Centenary Church in Suva for students before the start of the school year this week.

He said students should excel because nowadays a lot depended on achievement and qualification.

“Primary school and secondary school; these levels are a step towards your future. It’s important that you get good grades,” Rev Banivanua said.

“I suggest to students to use their time wisely so they can become good students.”

He advised students who failed to keep trying.

“Failing is not the end of the world. There are times when we do our own thing and forget the important things, but continue to try, continue to perform and continue to do your best for the future that awaits you,” he said.

He said students should believe that God could help them.
