Social worker Amelina Nabetelevu of Vitawa in Rakiraki was part of the Ra community that lobbied the members of the Fijian Parliament at the Tanoa Hotel in Rakiraki yesterday.

Ms Nabetelevu, 50, said, “It was the first time for me to be present in such a meeting with MPs.”

She said there were a lot of issues that were presented from the floor. The six MPs present were Assistant Minister for Health Veena Bhatnagar, Samuela Vunivalu and the Chief Opposition Whip Ratu Isoa Tikoca, Josefa Dulakiverata, Tupou Draunidalo and Prem Singh.

“We can only see them on television during the parliament session and it is great to be with them and for them to hear what we have to raise here,” Ms Nabetelevu said.

“There are a lot of issues we face in the Ra Province be it roads, bridges and it all affects our daily lives.”

Prem Singh of the National Federation Party (NFP) said, “This forum comes to be conclusive, where we all share ideas on what people feel right in the province of Ra.”
