France-based winger, Samisoni Viriviri, is determined to give his best and secure a spot in the Vodafone Fiji 7s squad for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Viriviri who scooped the IRB Sevens Player of the Year Award is aware that his mission would be a difficult one because of the abundance of talented players in the country.

“At the moment I know that many of the players will try to secure a spot for the Olympics so the competition will be very stiff,” the soft-spoken speedster said.

“Trying to impress the management will be challenging as well.”

Despite copping a minor injury the Dratabu native from Nadi remains optimistic of his chances of joining the national team.

“I might join the team or not, but right now I just want to focus on my fitness level and see if I am able to be on par with the boys. I will have to prepare myself physically and mentally well when I go to camp.”

Viriviri said it was his dream to represent Fiji at the Olympics.

“So this is my chance,” he said.

“Having to play from 15s to 7s again is sometimes challenging, but I pray that I will be able to get through this and impress the management.”

Viriviri will be accompanied by livewire winger Benito Masilevu as they join the national 7s squad next week.
