Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industries (NCCI) president Dr Ram Raju said the Chamber will celebrate Chinese New Year for the first time in Nadi on February 21.

“I’m trying to put together a programme shortly with the help of the Chinese Community and others. We’ll have our first business forum to coincide with this function focusing on Chinese Tourism, Trade and other opportunities,” he said.

He said there will be invitations sent out to key stakeholders and the new Chinese Ambassador to be the chief guest.

According to Wikipedia encyclopedia, this year is marked as the year of the Goat.

Meanwhile, NCCI described their organised Boat Cruise on January 17 as one of the best events they have set up.

“The members enjoyed and have a good social get together to start off the New Year,” said Dr Raju.

He said there were groups of Hashers including doctors from Suva and New Zealand with good number of potential members.

There were a record number of Ministers and MPs including the Minister for Fisheries and Forests Osea Naiqamu, Minister for Health Jone Usamate, Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou, Assistant Minister for Agriculture Joeli Cawaki, Deputy speaker Ruveni Nadalo, Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports Iliesa Delana, Government Whip Semi Koroilavesau, Samuela Vunivalu and Sanjit Patel.

Dr Raju would like to thank Van Meds for their generous sponsorship.
