Register By February 1

People earning a combined household income of $30,000 a year are eligible for Government’s free water programme.
The Water Authority of Fiji is now urging customers who are eligible for the scheme to register before February 1.
“As announced by the Prime Minister, to receive free water, eligible customers must first register for the programme at one of the eleven WAF offices around Fiji,” the authority said.
To register, it said, the customers must present a tin number and a recent pay slip.
“If unemployed, they must present a statutory declaration of income signed by a Justice of the Peace.
“Under this programme, Government has committed to providing 50 litres a day to a WAF customer plus an additional 50 litres each for up to four dependents living in the household.”
“This totals a maximum of 250 litres per day per household and these amounts are based on an international standard of how much water a person needs every day and an average household of five people in Fiji.
“Within five days of having their registration approved, the customer will begin receiving the free water allocation, which will be reflected in their next bill.
“The registration will last for three years and if during that period the customer’s combined household income rises above $30,000 a year, they must notify WAF immediately or face a penalty,” the authority said.
