First Landing Resort One defeated Western Suburb Two in the final of the Gaunavou Sevens at Churchill Park in Lautoka last Saturday.

Western Suburb Two led at halftime but First Landing Resort One came back strong in the second half to win 21-17 points.

Both teams scored three tries but Western Suburb Two only was successful with a conversion.

Yamacia defeated Natabua 26 -7 for the Bowl title;

Tournament organiser Timoci Driu said they were very happy with the outcome.

“We’re happy with the turnout as we managed to get 17 teams to play,”Driu said.

He said the main purpose of the tournament was to help the players build fitness and skill level.

“The Gaunavou Sevens is more of a build up ground for the boys it also helps them prepare for bigger sevens tournament.

“Minor teams can also benefit from this by seeking extra funds for their team to enter into big tournaments,” he said.

The second Gaunavou Sevens will be held at Churchill Park this Saturday to help the teams prepare for the PWD Bure Sevens next week.
