One-hundred-and-twenty students became pioneers of the Christian Mission Fellowship Secondary School which officially opened yesterday.

The ceremony was officiated by the Minister for Education Mahendra Reddy, at Tacirua East in Nasinu.

This year the school would only cater for Year 9 students.

Manager of the school board, Pastor Emosi Toroca said there were three classrooms of Year Nine students.

“We will build another three classrooms so that this Year Nine can go into Year 10 next year. While that is happening the construction of our fully fledged secondary school is taking place on the new site,” Mr Toroca said.

He said in 2017 both streams of classes would be moved to the new site.

“The cost of the three classroom block was $16,000 and we are thankful that Government had agreed to fund it,” Pastor Toroca said.

He said the mission of building the school began 18 years ago.

Mr Reddy applauded the church in its effort to establish the school.

“I am glad to say that what the CMF church has done in establishing the school is a testimony of you not thinking about your own individual interests but about the future of your children,” he said.
