4R Electrical Ba football coach Shalen Lal has warned his players to perform in 2015.

Lal, a former Ba and national rep, knows what it takes to take part in competition like the Galaxy Premier League which kicked off at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori over the weekend.

“Ba is always a great side but it is all about performance from now onwards,” Lal said.

“If the players perform they stay, if they don’t they know what to expect from me.”

The ‘Men in Black’ failed to win any silverware last season. And after winning the 2015 Pillay’s Garment Champion vs Champion by defeating Suva last weekend, Lal wants his players to be consistent.

“ We need to keep the form and players have been reminded on the importance of playing for Ba,”Lal said.

The team travels to Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori this Sunday to play Rewa at 3pm.

“There are weaknesses against Suva we need to put right,”he said.

“We need to train hard before playing our first Galaxy Premier League on Sunday.

Ba captain Epeli Codro has called on fans to support the team.

“We won’t promise anything this season after the miserable performance last season,”Codro said.

“But I plead on behalf of the team for fans to support us,” Codro said.

Since the league inception in 1977, Ba have won the title 19 times with a record of six years in a row (2001-06) surpassing Nadi’s record of four years in a row (1980-83).

In other matches this weekend, Nadi host Suva at Prince Charles Park, Nadi, 2pm while Nadroga host Tailevu Naitasiri for the first time at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, 3pm.

Nadi currently leads the league points table with three points after thumping Tailevu Naitasiri 6 – 1, while Rewa and Labasa share second spot with one point each after their 1-1 draw in Nausori.
