Former students of Nawai Primary School in Nadroga have extended their helping hands once again.

This year, its 101 students were blessed with free exercise books and stationery from the Ex-Nawai Students Association in Australia.

“This is the second time the ex-students from Australia have contributed to the students,” headteacher Rohitesh Chand said.

“No doubt this will be very useful this year and we are very thankful to Sharva Nandan and his team, who add to the assistance by the Government with the free text books and the free bus fare.”

Mr Chand said with such dealings there should not be any complacency on the teachers, parents or on the student’s part.

“We need students to perform. The Government is removing the entire burden from the parents to focus more on putting bread and butter on the table.”

School manager Kini Tubi said the Alumni had a pledge to uplift the community.

“We should make good use of what is given and be thankful,” Mr Tubi said.

He said in previous years, most of the students were not in school because of the lack of resources.

“Parents and teachers should at all times support these young ones and see how their child can achieve in order to prosper.”
