24-Hour Service Restored

The Suva Private Hospital in Amy Street, Toorak, Suva, will revert back to a 24-hour operation from February 2.

The hospital’s executive director, Pramesh Sharma, said in the past two years they were overwhelmed with requests to revert the medical centre to a 24-hour operation.

“We had to limit our operation hours in early 2013 because of certain regulatory provisions in Medical and Dental Practitioners Decree of 2010 which proved challenging recruiting general practitioners at that time,” Mr Sharma said.

“We have worked tirelessly to accommodate the needs of our customers and at the same time comply with various regulatory requirements.”

This, Mr Sharma said had taken some time to reach the desired level of complement of general practitioners and nurses to ensure 24/7 service deliveries at the medical centre was sustainable.

He said the hospitals management and board were satisfied that after a series of careful deliberations over the matter there had been good progress forged between the regulators and hospital which now allowed the 24/7 medical centre opening.
