Vulaca Tourney Starts Today

Coaches will be keeping an eye out for potential players to join the national volleyball team during the Vulaca tournament.

Tournament organiser Jone Baleilomaloma said the bigger picture was the Pacific Games and this tournament would aid coaches to gauge players they wanted in the national team.

“This tournament will be a platform for not only for players to showcase their skills and talent, but for coaches to judge the quality of our players in the tournament,” Baleilomaloma said.

Baleilomaloma said the number of teams and associations this year had increased from last year which has boost to the sport.

“In this year’s Vulaca tournament, we have 35 men’s teams and 16 women’s team. Another thing to note is the number of associations has increased from 12 to 15,” he said. The tournament starts today with the women’s competition from 6pm-10pm at the FMF Gymnasium followed by the men’s competition tomorrow which starts at 8am.

Entry fee will be $4 for adults and $1 for children.
