ANALYSIS: Tikoduadua A Pace-setter

Pio Tikoduadua has been relentless from Day One to deliver promised services to the people.

There is no letup in the intensity of his mission.

The Minister for Infrastructure and Transport works incredibly hard behind the scenes.

Much of what he does gets little air time on television or radio and publicity in newspapers.

But he does not mind. It suits his character as a modest person and a quite achiever.

Infrastructure received the biggest allocation of $635 million in the 2015 National Budget. It underscores the emphasis Government places on infrastructure. Mr Tikoduadua and his Permanent Secretary Francis Kean make up a perfect team.

Here’re some of their achievements:

– Northern Division tour. Visited all staff under the ministry including the five Government commercial statutory authorities

Talanoa sessions in Tabia, Batinikama

– Road projects with FRA Nabouwalu – Dreketi and second phase of Buca Rd.

– Delainavesi to Veisari water problem well under way and projected time lines on par

– Fixed the water problem at Wailoku

– Fixed sewage pipeline at Wainivula Creek.

– Water carting improved during crisis.

– Deployment of Iloilovatu and Rogovoka to take school teachers and students to Lau and Lomaiviti Group. Picked up those returning for the new school year to Viti Levu and Vanua Levu

– Visited Sakoca after water complaints. Supply restored quickly. Minister still in Parliament suit, visited area.

– Got calls on his mobile from public. Water delivered promptly to residents in Mulomulo, Nadi. Namadi resident apologised and thanked minister after abusive calls to WAF.

– Fulfilled his promise in Parliament to light up villages from Wailotua to Nayavu, Wainibuka, Tailevu. Grid extension of FEA power lines has been completed and energised including all 260 homes in 11 villages and communities plus Government station in Nayavu. These communities and villages have paid their five per cent contributions. Once the others make this contribution, power will be connected.

-Natovi jetty water flowing again after problem.ghout our organisation.
