Gurukul Primary School students were all smiles when the school received computers and school stationery, in Lautoka, yesterday.

Receiving the donation from the Sydney Friends of Fiji in Lautoka; group representative Jason Narayan said he was happy to see the children smiling.

“Having to see them smile and so happy with the donation is a blessing,” Mr Narayan said.

Mr Narayan who runs a restaurant at Liverpool in Sydney, Australia said that they hoped to expand their donation Fiji wide.

“At my restaurant we would serve a lot of Fijian customers. One day, we sat around and agreed to assist in whatever way we can in giving back to Fiji. So we have started and we hope to expand this around the country,” he said.

Donating  three computer sets and school stationery Mr Narayan and his 18-member-group urge those who need assistance to contact them.

Ten-year-old Nilesh Pratap, said that he was motivated with the donation.

“I am very happy; This has motivated me to study hard and achieve my dream of being a Police officer.

“Being raised by a single parent is not easy but after knowing that we will receive assistance, it has made me very happy,”  Nilesh said.

The school’s headteacher, Saran Deo, was thankful to the organisation for the donation.

“This is another additional assistance apart from what the Government has given us and I thank everyone for their kind assistance towards the school,” Mr Deo said.
