Health services in rural areas in the North was made more easier yesterday after the launching of the Mobile Medical Bus.

The bus will allow health workers to travel to parts of the division to help save and improve people’s lives, says the Minister for Health, Jone Usamate.

The bus will be used by the the ministry’s Nutrition Centre in Labasa.

“Section 38 of the Constitution says that everyone in this country has the right to life,” Mr Usamate said in Labasa yesterday during the launching of the bus.

He said the ministry would ensure that health services reached all Fijians, especially in rural areas.

Acting divisional medical officer North, Dr Frances Vulivuli said the bus would provide outreach services in areas of child health, maternal health, mental health, dental health and outpatient services.

“The arrival of wellness bus has been very timely in responding to the increasing population size and greater demand for close services and the introduction of new services,” Dr Vulivuli said.

The Sangam Nursing School in Labasa also contributed to the purchasing of the bus.
