FBC TV Suva Black retained the women’s title in the Vulaca Championships after beating BSP Vatuwaqa 3-0 in the final yesterday.

Vatuwaqa’s chances of beating the Suva team with most of the players being in the national team and with the formidable Vietnam based player Anaseini Seniloli, their chances were slim.

FBC TV Suva Black coach Iliesa Raketekete said this year’s tournament was not tough.

“I’m happy we won, it is funny because the last tournament was tougher but that was probably because I didn’t coach the girls last year,” Raketekete said.

“Most of the girls in the team are part of the Fiji squad. We used this tournament as a platform to build up and have game time for the girls because our main objective of the competition was to qualify for the Vanua Challenge and we have done that.”

Suva won all three sets  25-13, 25-18 and 25-12 despite the strong challenge by a spirited Vatuwaqa team.
