Veiyasana is one of the newcomers to the Vulaca Championship out of the 32 men’s team which took part in the annual event which started last Thursday.

Coach Jim Baleitavea said it had been a long time coming for Veiyasana.

“It’s almost eight years because most of the player’s had been playing for other associations,” Baleitavea said.

“But this year, we have decided to set up our own association to keep our players from venturing out because we do have the talent and we want to keep that within our association.

Taking part for the first time in the Vulaca  Championship, Baleitavea said their main aim was not winning but giving their players the exposure.

“We brought two teams into this tournament and most of them are new and we want to expose these players and make sure they get the experience that they need,” he said.

“This year, there have been more teams in the competition which is good for us because the more we play against other more experienced teams, the more we learn.”
