The National Federation Party (NFP) is hopeful that a sugar select committee will be initiated by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

During the Party’s meeting at San Bruno hotel in Nadi, Party leader and member of Parliament, Biman Prasad, said there was a fruitful meeting among the working committee.

“The working committee expressed their disappointment about farmers not getting sugar cane payment on time. It is not too late for the Prime Minister to ask Fiji Sugar Corporation to do something about that,” Mr Prasad said.

They have also asked for the Media Decree to be repealed and called on Government to repeal certain other Decrees.

Mr Prasad is also calling on Government for a joint parliamentary committee to look at other decrees either to repeal or review them.
