Improving customer service in the health sector is a key aspect of the Ministry of Health.

This is the message disseminated to health officials by the Minister for Health and Medical Services, Jone Usamate, and his assistant Veena Bhatnagar.

They are still on the road touring the many health facilities nationwide.

Mr Usamate visited the Northern Division over the weekend to launch the NCDs Mobile Medical Bus.

He also met the health officials there and was debriefed about the status on dengue fever and typhoid.

Mrs Bhatnagar visited the Namaka Health Centre and Reproductive Health Baby Clinic, the Nadi Airport Health Office, and the Nadi Hospital.

“Visits as such are important so that we are able to engage with the public and health staff on the ground. This will give us an insight into what areas need addressing and improvements,” Ms Bhatnagar said.

“We are looking at improving customer services because this was a concern highlighted during our public consultations. These brief visits also give us the opportunity to encourage and motivate our health staff who work tirelessly to serve the people of Fiji.”

Mr Usamate and Mrs Bhatnagar are expected to visit for health facilities.

Meanwhile, the Namaka Reproductive Health and Baby Clinic (CAAF compound) will provide free pap smears and breast examinations, and stage cancer awareness this week.

This is to mark World Cancer Day tomorrow, February 4.
