Our Minister for Agriculture Inia Seruiratu is a man on the move, in every sense of the term.   He is constantly looking to expand our local agricultural economy and change mindsets. In India, he is learning from the best. His talks with the Indian National Seed Corporation and the leading India animal health care company Ayurvet Ltd can only mean good things for Fiji. Its a wonder we haven’t done more to build our business with India, now boasting world-class cutting-edge industries.

The Fijian High Commission In New Delhi has its work cut out for it.  Fijian High Commissioner Yogesh Karan and his team and other stakeholders deserve plaudits for facilitating the growing business between the two countries.

Why wouldn’t anyone want to do business with one of the most dynamic economies in the world?

One of the reasons, is that the Indian Government treats Fijians as equals. Its a credit to their character considering not so long ago, Indo-Fijians were treated as second-class citizens in this country.

Mr Seruiratu will bring back a wealth of knowledge for the farmers in Fiji. Through perserverance and innovation, their Indian counterparts have learnt to overcome the challenges on the subcontinent.

We believe Fijian farmers will also rise to the occasion to make best use of the knowledge derived from the Indian experience. After all, they’re learning from the best.
