A mataqali in a village in Serua has demanded an upfront payment of $300,000 from a company before it starts its gold exploration programme.

Gold deposits have been established to be in their land and a company is now ready to start with exploration.

 

More claims received

The Ministry of Defence has received more names on claims for the payout for Christmas Island veterans.

They have the list of names and they are currently making verifications.

One simple question asked to the veterans is on their days of travel from Fiji to Christmas Island. They travelled for four days but for new claimants they are saying two weeks.

 

Masi flag

Some people who are now voicing their concerns on the change in Fiji’s flag have supported a masi flag that was hoisted in Parliament in 2000. Those in Parliament at that time had totally ignored the Fiji flag.
