Prefects have to win the allegiance of all students says Vashist Muni Memorial Primary School headteacher Rajesh Prasad yesterday.

He said it was because they were the frontliners who will be observed and criticized all the time.

The school yesterday inducted its headboy, headgirl, 27 seven senior prefects, six peer mediators and 54 class prefects at the school in Navua.

“A good leader is always devoted and committed to his or her responsibilities and always leads by example, which the prefects needs to do this year,” Mr Prasad said.

The headboy Nikhil Singh said: “It’s not an easy job to be a head prefect of the school; this job comes with a lot of pressure and responsibilities.

“Being a head boy is a dream come true to me.

Meanwhile school headgirl Shaakshi Pillay said: “I am very excited; it is a big responsibility, the role is challenging and I will do my best to uphold the name of the school and set examples to all students.”
