It seemed like the perfect win for Julia Waqairatavo. She will be living the dream of every family.

She and her nuclear family will have a home and land for themselves after her generous brother gave her a piece of land in Wailoku for which she and her husband could develop. Yesterday, the 29-year-old woman, originally from Vanua Levu, but living here in Suva, became the first prize winner of the ‘It Takes Two’ promotions.

She wins a two-bedroom home that will be constructed by promotion partners BlueScope Lysaght (Fiji) Limited. In addition, Ms Waqairatavo walks away with $10,000 as part of the prize.

This was the biggest promotions organised by Goodman Fielder (Fiji) Limited with 145,000 entries with major winner announced at a crowded Ratu Sukuna Park.

When called yesterday Ms Waqairatavo was overwhelmed with joy as she gave a loud cry of excitement in return.

“I’m so happy. This means a lot to my family especially since me and my husband are not working,” she said.

“We want to invest in the house but my husband and I will have to discuss first and see how we can plan this properly. My daughter is only four years old so we might want to invest in her education by renting out the place.”

Meanwhile, in Matata settlement in Lami, a Year 9 student of Cathedral Secondary School, Oma Lagi, won the promotion’s second prize, a Hyundai Tucson four-wheel drive.

Her father Peter Lagi said he was at shocked and was out of words when he heard the news.

“This is the first time we have won such a major prize,” Mr Lagi said.

“We were just talking about it earlier but never thought it would come true, I guess it’s just our miracle,” he said.

Goodman Fielder Fiji General Manager Chris Zaayman it was an exciting promotions with four months in running.

“We used all media for our advertising and are very pleased with this year’s results as well as our retail partners and our promotional partners,” Mr Zaayman said.

“All it took was either two barcodes of Crest Chicken whole birds or two Tuckers five-liter ice-cream packs or a combination of both to win either a house or a car,” he said.

Mr Zaayman confirmed the company has a lot more plans installed for their customers in the near future.

“In the next two weeks we will launch the Crest Chicken cool stuff for school campaign and we believe it will be a lot bigger than the past.

“Crest chicken will be offering more easier to redeem awards and this year in our cultural exchange programme we are going to take 10 students to New Zealand,” he said.
