A number of residents in Naulu, Nakasi say they are living in fear of being robbed.

An alleged robbery and two attempted robberies last Monday has caused sleepless nights for some families in the area.

Fiji Police Force spokesperson Ana Naisoro has confirmed receiving a report from one of the victims, Dhurup Chand.

“The only item mentioned as stolen is the tablet,” Ms Naisoro said.

Police investigations are continuing.

Nazma Bibi, 51, said: “The robbers have robbed my children’s two laptops worth $4000, four smart phones and some gold jewellery and $700 cash.

“We are residing here (Naulu Road) for the past 22 years and we have never come across such cases. This is the first time. We reported the matter to Police the very next morning.”

Her daughter, Shazleen Shana Bibi said they were afraid for their security.

“When we woke up the next morning at 3 o’clock we discovered our things were missing and what was more shocking was finding knives and sticks in our rooms,” Ms Bibi said. “We are really scared, in fact now when we come back from school, we do our daily activities and sleep till 11pm and wake up after hours so that we can be alert.”

Another victim of an alleged robbery, Himani Devi, 25, said: “The robbers had attacked our house for the second time but we managed to save our stuff.

“We are getting more secured as we are putting on shutters, grills on windows and doors so that there is no third attack.”
