Drop By 5% In 2016: Konrote

The FijiFirst Government aims to reduce unemployment to five per cent by 2016.

The Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Jioji Konrote, while delivering his ministerial speech in Parliament yesterday said: “Creating jobs is among this Government’s top priorities and we are very determined and focused to build on the achievements of the past eight years to create more jobs.”
Mr Konrote said unemployment rate in 2007 was 8.6 per cent, 6.9 per cent in 2011 and their project is to reduce this further to five per cent by 2015/2016.
“Unemployment is a key socio-economic issue and a major challenge to our beloved nation and for this, creating jobs is a priority.”
