Lieutenant-Colonel Manoa Gadai will be a Defence Attache for the United Nations peacekeeping.

The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), Land Force Commander Colonel Sitiveni Qiliho said this was a new posting for the RFMF and Lieutenant-Colonel Gadai will be based in New York, USA.

Speaking to the media yesterday, Lieutenant-Colonel Gadai said he was ready to take on his new post.

“I’ll be handling peacekeeping not only for RFMF but also for the Fiji Police Force,” he said.

He thanked the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama, and the RFMF Commander, Brigadier-General Mosese Tikoitoga, for his appointment.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Acting Permanent Secretary, Esala Nayasi, yesterday confirmed that Lieutenant-Colonel Gadai will be with the ministry until March preparing for his new posting.

Mr Nayasi said Lieutenant-Colonel Gadai would play a big role in the peacekeeping mission for the United Nations.

Colonel Qiliho thanked Lieutenant-Colonel Gadai for leading the 3FIR and lifting its standard to a high level.
