Fiji Pearls will play Wales in the opening match of the Netball World Cup 2015 in Sydney, Australia on August 7.

The last time these teams met was at the 2007 NWC in New Zealand.

Fiji won 68-36 and finished in nineth place overall.

Fiji Pearls coach Kate Carpenter said: “We will aim to finish eighth or better in Sydney.”

Fiji is grouped in Pool D alongside Wales, Uganda and Zambia.

ANZ Championship

Fiji Pearls will depart for Hamilton next Thursday to play against the Kia Magic of Waikato.

They will also take on Melbourne Vixens on February 22 in preparation for the Netball World Cup 2015.

Carpenter is fielding fresh players in this tour to Australia and New Zealand for the ANZ Championship.

“We got two new players, Sereana Maragi and Losalini Tuifagalele who will be travelling with us to New Zealand and Australia,” Carpenter said.

“These girls did not play in the inaugural Oceania Tri-Series last month and they will now get a chance to play against the Kia Magic of Waikato and Melbourne Vixens.”

Carpenter said the team would also be joined by Jancita Lal and Kelera Nawai in New Zealand and Jane Costello in Melbourne.
