The business community in Savusavu turned up in numbers to attend the Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority information session.

Hosted by the authority’s chief executive, Jitoko Tikolevu, the session was centred on the 2015 National Budget Revenue Measures. It was held at the Hot Springs Hotel conference room in Savusavu.

Although some of the issues discussed were on the topic, most of the participants raised general issues that affected their business operations.

Mr Tikolevu said he was happy to see such a big crowd at the session and them taking time out to raise their concerns.

“Look at the crowd we are talking about 40-50 people here and look at the range of issues they raised. Some it are totally outside the 2015 Budget issues,” he said.

“Our purpose really is to come and further clarify any issues on the 2015 budget but some were raising some issues that were quite important to us to clarify.

“I am so grateful with some issues that we were able to raise today, questions were very pragmatic and solutions that we have raised as well.”

He added one issue they would take back to Suva was a question posed by a businessman on the land sales act.

“I think one or two we need to take back to Suva like the Land Sales Act question that was posed. I need to clarify it with Ministry of Finance and the Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khayium himself.”

Most of the participants present were delighted that they had a one on one question and answer session with the executive team from Suva.
