Send Kids To School, Minister Pleads

The Minister for Education, Mahendra Reddy is pleading with all parents to send their children to school.

The plea comes after some children of school age were noticed to be out of school despite Government’s free education grant.

“I can’t see any reason why parents can’t send their children to school,” Mr Reddy said.

He said the ministry was pleading with parents to take advantage of the grant and encourage their children to attend school.

“We urge parents to talk to their children, advise them on the benefits of getting a proper education,” Mr Reddy said.

Parents should inform their children on how education would help them make logical decisions now and in future.

He said Government had a vision of making Fiji a knowledge-based society.

Meanwhile, there is currently no law that holds parents responsible for not putting their children to school.
