Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan will be the guest speaker at the annual 2014 Fiji Sports Awards on February 27 at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.

This was confirmed at the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic (FASANOC) House in Suva by Sitiveni Tawakevou yesterday.

“Fiji 7s head coach Ben Ryan will be the guest speaker for the 2014 Fiji Sports award,” Tawakevou said.

Meanwhile, FASANOC chief executive officer Lorraine Mar committee rep Lorraine Mar signed a deal with Fiji Television acting CEO Geoffery Smith yesterday to become the official media partner of the event.

The deal is for the next three years where Fiji TV will have the rights to air on its Free to Air Channel and Pay TV Channels starting with the 2014 Fiji Sports Awards.

Offering up to $73,000 in production costs in the first year, Fiji Television Limited will begin promotions over the next two weeks leading up to the event.

Mar said it was indeed a pleasure to have strong media support for the event.

“It was exciting to know that this year’s Fiji Sports Awards will be broadcasted live on Fiji One and the Sky Pacific Channel,”Mar said.

“We’ll have the opportunity to showcase to our Pacific Island neighbors what the Fiji Sports Awards is all about and how we recognize and reward our top athletes.”

Smith said the event ties in well with their 2015 Pacific Games build up in Papua New Guinea later this year as official broadcasters of the event.

“What better way to acknowledge their sacrifice for their country to show their achievements throughout Fiji and the Pacific on Fiji One and Sky Pacific platform,”Smith said.

“The 2014 Fiji Sports Awards offers a lot of opportunities for us as we also tie in preparations for the upcoming Pacific Games. You can expect to see some interesting features and stories to come out from this event as we move closer to the games as well.”

The Fiji Sports Awards is an opportunity for the sporting and wider community to celebrate the talent and successes of our sports men and women in Fiji.
